"Hey! Who's this weirdo?"
Hi! I'm Mar. My pronouns are He/Them. I'm a 20 year old animation student from America. My favorite color are yellow and orange, my favorite food is normally whatever I am eating, and I like anime, manga, and dinosaurs and I hate loud noises. I relocated from larkspuurs.neocities.org
"So, Why'd you create this wacky website?
I grew up on the later end of the "old web" era. I spent most of my days after school clicking through the internet to try and find the most fun and weirdest websites I could. Eventually that went away and I forgot about it. Up until creating this website I would spend each night doomscrolling. I was constantly told I needded an Instagram, Twitter, This social media website, that social media website. It all seemed so toxic and devoid of life. There was a overwhelming feeling to "be a brand" and I hated that so much. I still use social media from time to time. I only post art there because in this day and age it's extremely hard to not have a social media presence, especially as an artist trying to get your work out there.
As an artist, I love designing in creating. I noticed that web design seemed so hollow and plain a long time ago, but I thought there was nothing I could do about it. I remember in a class in middle school, we had to make a website and it was using this "drag and drop" system. It seemed so...Ugly? It just drained the energy and fun out of the internet for me. In one of my university classes, we had to make a website on this drag and drop builder. When I looked at each other's websites, I couldn't help but notice that they all looked the same. It was so ugly and boring.
Then, in college, I found the Yesterweb! It was so chaotic and fun! All I could think of is "Hey! I wanna do that too!" I've spent HOURS AND HOURS on other people's websites and it has been the most fun I've had on the internet in a VERY long time. I love it so much and I'm excited to be apart of it.
Currently, I'm using templetes I found on other yesterweb sites to help me get a bit of a start so I can put out my ideas and learn from others. I've learned so much by just looking at templates and realizing "Oh! So that's how you do that!" and having more and more fun. I plan at somepoint once my website is a bit more developed to change the pages from templates to ones I've personally made and maybe I'll inspire others too. I also hope you enjoy your stay here, and that it's as fun for you as it is for me. :)
